Complication Insurance
Health Tourism Complication Insurance provides coverage for foreign individuals who are planning to have one of the specified surgeries or treatments below in Turkey. Coverage becomes valid in case of repetition of the same surgery due to complications that should arise after the primary surgery. Both the primary surgery and the repetition surgery should be undertaken in Turkey. The policy is valid for 6 months starting from the date of commencement.
Coverage Details
Inpatient Treatment Coverage
Inpatient treatment coverage is valid in the following terms and conditions:
- Patients should have the Health Tourism Complication Insurance prior to having primary surgery/operation in Turkey,
- Primary surgery/operation should be undertaken in Turkey by a medical center accredited as “Medical Tourism Institution” by Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health,
- All the required documents and information regarding the primary and secondary surgery/operations as well as complications due to primary surgery/operation should be presented to Insurance Company, additional documents may be requested,
- Repetition surgery/operation should be undertaken in Turkey by a medical center accredited as “Medical Tourism Institution” by Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health in 6 months of time from the policy commencement day,
- Reimbursement will be made to the insured according to coverage limits for the treatments, specified in the each policy.
Any dissatisfaction arising from personal preferences are excluded in plastic surgeries and dental treatments.
The complications that are only caused by specified procedures are covered by the insurance, any other complications occurring from another treatment are excluded from the coverage.
The expenses related to complications that caused by the covered surgery/operation including revision/repetition surgery and intervention are covered. Rehabilitation/physical therapy expenses, which may or may not be required after the surgery/intervention are excluded from the coverage.
Any tests and pharmaceuticals required for the covered medical procedure are also reimbursed under this coverage. Except for the diagnostic procedures required for the treatment of the complication and pre-operation tests, any other diagnostic procedures and tests unrelated to the surgery are excluded from the coverage.
Flight Ticket Coverage
The price of economy class flight ticket, paid by the insured for treatment of complication, arising as a result of a treatment, applied to insured in Turkey, or revision of surgery, is reimbursed subject to limit and exclusions in the policy. Flight ticket coverage limit varies between plans; check your certificate. Coverage is indicated on certificate and/or policy. Flight ticket coverage has an exemption of EUR 100 and maximum payable coverage varies depending on plan. Coverage limit is specified in the certificate and policy.
Accommodation Coverage
Accommodation expenses incurred by the insured for treatment of complications arising from their first surgery in Türkiye are covered daily under this coverage. The first five days of accommodation are exempt, and coverage applies to stays beyond these five days. The duration of accommodation includes any time spent outside a healthcare facility before and after treatment in Türkiye.
Optional accommodations without medical necessity are not covered. The requirement for accommodation is determined by a medical report.
Intervention in Native Country Coverage
May be purchased optionally.
Minor interventions and medical treatments, related to early complications, such as discharge in wound and infection, related to medical procedure/surgery, experienced by the insured after returning to native country, which do not require the insured to return, will be reimbursed within the limits, specified in the policy and certificate under this coverage.
For reimbursement of these expenses, the insured must deliver medical report and original invoice, bank information for payment (SWIFT, IBAN), via mail.
Following evaluation, payment for covered expenses, will be made to the bank account of insured, subject to coverage limits. In payments, bank transfer and swift expenses will be deducted from coverage limits.
Companion Expenses Coverage
May be purchased optionally only in Surgery and Cardiovasclar Surgery plans. Related coverage is not valid for the initial procedure/surgery to be applied in Turkey.
On activation of policy coverages during the secondary procedure to be performed on the insured, transportation and accommodation expenses for one companion, who will travel to Turkey with the insured, will be reimbursed, subject to coverage limits and exemptions, specified in policy and certificate.
Companion expenses in hospital invoice during hospitalization, are excluded.
Travel Policy Coverage
This is included in all plans. Healthcare, ambulance, medical consultancy and transfer of remains expenses, are considered within the framework of coverage limits and travel health insurance special conditions (separately presented in the annex).

Dental Plan:
Complications, which may be reimbursed under dental plan are expenses, which arise following tooth extraction, surgical tooth extraction, root canal operation, implant operation, prosthetic tooth application and periodontology applications. Orthodontic treatments are excluded from coverage.
In prosthetic tooth application, problems, such as undesired color or form of prosthesis, will not be deemed as complication and no reimbursement will be made.
In surgical tooth extraction, complications, such as delayed hemorrhage, gingiva infection, leaving a part of tooth; in implant applications, ill-fitting implant, loose implant, dislodged implant and inflicting damage on jaw bone, are excluded from coverage.

Who can be insured?
Age limits are 0 and 75 and persons of 75 years of age and over are excluded from insurance coverage. Policy production is made by using passport number.
What is the geographical area?
This policy is only valid in case the treatments for complications of surgeries, interventions and medical treatments, performed within the territory of Republic of Turkey after policy commencement date. However, minor interventions and medical treatments related to early complications such as discharge from the wound, infection related to the medical intervention / surgery that the Insured had after returning to his/her home country, and medical treatments that will not require him/her to come back to Turkey again are also covered together with the intervention in native country coverage in his/her own country. Valid covarage limits are specified in the policy and certificate.
What is the Difference Between Complication Insurance and VIP Complication Insurance?
VIP Complication Insurance covers early complications that may arise within 7 days after discharge from the hospital following a medical procedure or surgery performed on the insured. Standard Complication Insurance, on the other hand, does not cover these early complications.

Who can purchase this product?
Policy may be purchased by foreigners, who come to Turkey for healthcare tourism and Republic of Turkey citizens, who are domiciled abroad with a foreign passport number and who come to Turkey for healthcare tourism.
